Earth Lodge is a sanctuary symbolising a new era in luxury South African safari lodges. Sculpted into a slope of the earth, almost invisible in the landscape, the lodge uses texture, light and space to present a lodge like no other. Taking its cue from the surrounding environment, it has been described as the most environmentally sensitive lodge in Africa.
On arrival a hidden corridor leads you down on a journey to a unique and unforgettable experience. The unexpected entrance opens to a panorama of uninterrupted bushveld. Home to 13 ultra-luxurious suites, the lodge breaks with traditional bush lodge style to create a masterpiece of artistry and innovation. Each of the suites at this luxury lodge features individually designed furniture, private plunge pool, en-suite glass fronted bathroom and indoor and outdoor shower.
The outdoor boma, its walls sculpted from tree roots and piled up piece by piece, captures the drama of the African night. An indoor/outdoor dining area overlooking a waterhole and unending bushveld, an underground wine cellar with a collection of over 6000 bottles of rare wines, the venue for an unforgettable dining experience.

Our location on a central plain between two rivers means that our reserve is home to different biomes and habitats that attract a wide variety of wildlife.
Conserving and protecting the wilderness we call home in order to share it with those discerning, conscious beings who appreciate the world we live in - in every aspect.
A deep love and respect for nature runs through our veins. Which is why we engage in various initiatives to safeguard Mother Nature’s fragile ecosystems – from anti-poaching to ongoing habitat management.
Sabi Sabi is a bird lover’s delight – home to almost 350 species including rare specimens such as the Narina Trogon, Bat Hawk and Diedrick’s Cuckoo as well as the so-called ‘Big 6’ of Martial Eagle, Lappet-faced Vulture, Pel’s Fishing Owl, Saddle-billed Stork, Southern Ground Hornbill and Kori Bustard.
Nature is a living miracle and to us, poaching is not only unthinkable, it’s an illegal act that threatens one of South Africa’s greatest treasures. This is why we have a dedicated anti-poaching unit and partner with other conservation teams in the area to extend our cover of protection.
Meet the Rockstars of the safari world. Every guide and tracker is highly experienced and has undergone intensive training to make sure that your safari is safe, informative and unforgettable.
Many have spent their lives in the bush and can teach you anything from the terrain to the stars. And whether it’s your first safari or your hundredth, you can rely on these professionals to bring your experience to life every time.
Sabi Sabi is situated within a recognized ‘hotspot’ of biodiversity. While the many visitors from all over the world come to spot the ‘Big 5’ – lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo; just as important are the ‘Small 5005’ other species and rare and localized species, for example, the highly secretive Pangolin or Scaly Anteater occurs here.
Game ranger training is intensive and of a very high standard. In effect rangers are environmental educators, the information and knowledge that they impart to guests may in a sense also represent a benefit that transcends site boundaries nationally and internationally. Similarly, the trackers meet the highest standards in the field. Most of the trackers are local Shangaan people and possess an innate appreciation and deep knowledge of the bush.
Earth Lodge, Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve, situated in the Sabie Game Reserve in the South-Western section of the Greater Kruger National Park, is a wildlife oasis where you can observe at close quarters the age-old natural relationship between predator and prey.
This is a low risk Malaria area, especially in the winter months
